Companies everywhere have transformed their businesses thanks to Apple’s mobile products and iOS apps. Thanks to these tools, business owners from a vast array of industries now have the power to run their business from the palm of their hand.

Gary Shapochnic knows this all too well. As Co-owner and General Manager of IGTech, a telecom service provider in Morganville, New Jersey, he has gained freedom by leveraging a suite of iOS apps to manage jobs, his workforce and accounting. Gary was recently featured in an iPad in Business video, and explained how leveraging the suite of products has boosted productivity for his business.

1. Deputy

Providing telecom solutions for customers of varying sizes, IGTech can have anywhere upwards of 30 jobs a day. With a workforce of 17 and a 24 hour response team, having ultimate visibility over his workforce is imperative for Gary.

That’s where Deputy comes in – providing a complete staff management tool kit.

Gary says Deputy enables technicians to track their time on commercial projects and gives him the ability to find out the status of a technician when they’re in a remote location. When technicians arrive at a job, they start the clock – enabling them to concentrate on the client and the job at hand.

“Before, for me to find the status of a technician and his progress, I would have to give them a call and take them away from their client,” Gary explains.

“Now I can see where they are, what they’re doing and which customer they are with.

“I can sit in New Jersey and know about my technician in Westchester without calling or bothering him – all by simply logging in remotely.”

2. ServiceM8

IGTech uses ServiceM8 to track all aspects of residential jobs, including time and client management. Gary explains that it’s incredibly useful for tracking the customer lifecycle.

“We get a phone call, we log it into ServiceM8 and assign a technician onto the job,” Gary says.

“When [the technician] arrives at the job, he can attach pictures and signatures to a customer account.

“If we are trying to troubleshoot a customer even a year later after doing thousands of jobs, it can be very hard, but a picture speaks a thousand words.”

3. Xero

Gary’s first choice for payroll, invoices and accounting for IGTech was Xero. He says Xero stood out as a convenient, mobile solution to help him perform basic accounting functions.

“I can see a full view of expenses over a single job,” Gary explains.

“I don’t have to run reports, the minute I get into Xero I can see [the] data and analyze it so we can be better tomorrow and more productive for our customer.”

He says one of the biggest benefits of Xero, Deputy and ServiceM8 is they all sync automatically, so he is able to look at the right numbers at the right time.

“The iPad and iPhone provide a true remote control to our business.”

Gary is just one of many business owners leveraging the power of the ecosystem so his business can thrive.
